Good quality Victorian mahogany extending or 'wind out' dining table with its original extra leaf. Having a width of 42 inches it measures 51 inches long retracted and 72 inches extended with extra leaf fitted. Straight out of the farmhouse from which we bought it this spacious table is ready for immediate use as is providing you do not want a showpiece and is priced accordingly. Importantly its wind out carriage operates smoothly by means of its original handle and is entirely worm free (the beech sections of these are not always so). The (original and correct) extra leaf is of a somewhat darker colour than the rest of the table due to it normally being stored away from the light. The polish on the mahogany of the remainder, as you can see from the photos, is somewhat faded but if the whole was re French polished it would respond well if a richer reddish hue was desired. Castors are later replacements and although serving their purpose well a set of old or reproduction brass or brass and china ones would be more appropriate. Our price of £395 more than allows for it to be fitted with fresh castors and its cosmetic deffects to be remedied. On the other hand if it is acceptable to you 'as is' it represents an extraordinarily good table for a very reasonable price.

42 inches by 72 inches.

19th C extending mahogany dining table
Victorian pine kitchen table with two drawers with original finish to base and bare wood top. although in its original finish this table has had a somewhat chequered history in that at some time, many moons ago, its top was extended by the insertion of an extra plank thus giving it an above average overhang. The top can be slid to gave abnormal overhang if required (as was in its tailors shop guise) or fixed centrally - this by screw blocks on the underside (now detached in order to render the top removable). If required this extra plank could be removed in order to return the table to its original format by the way. Top in present form measures 48 by 35 inches or if returned to original would be 48 by 26 1/2 inches. A characterful and useful piece of pine Victorian kitchenalia with a lot of patina for just £195

A true designer piece from the era and in traditional English oak. - top is 36 inches by 18 inches and about 29 inches high.

Until recent times this little table would have been heading straight for the stripping tank once the formica covering to its top had been removed: but times have changed and very likely one or more amongst you would prefer to have it in its mid-century finish - a mix of worn light blue paint to its base and rubbed patterned formica covering to the top, which is bordered with aluminium beading and blue infill. At one time indigenous throughout the length and breadth of the British Isles - from Liverpool semis to Isle of Wight bungalows - tables such as this, made a hundred years ago or thereabouts, that retain their authentic 1950's updates and subsequent patina are not too easy to find. At just over 42 inches long and 26 inches wide by 30 inches high it will feed four with a squeeze and it has a drawer too so has many other uses. Solid as they come and ready for immediate use once it has had a light clean to rid it of any undesirable grime.
